Business Studies

Our Business Studies Faculty, located in the main school building benefits from the enthusiasm and experience of 5 full time and 1 part time teachers.

Key Stage 3

Business Studies is not taught as a separate subject in Years 7 - 9, but students learn some of the basic principals through history, geography, mathematics and PSHE.

The Business Studies department is active in introducing business studies to key stage three students through extra curricular activities including enterprise days for all years and "Smoothie Day" where year 9 students have the opportunity to set up and run a small smoothie business for the day with ingredients donated by Waitrose.

GCSE

In years 10 - 11 students can choose from two different Business Studies GCSE courses.

Both courses cover all the main elements of business studies:

  • Accounting
  • Customer Service
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Law
  • Marketing
  • Operations Management

The OCR GCSE in Business Studies (single award) consists of 3 lessons per week and is assessed through a timed assessment project (25%) and examination (75%)

The OCR Applied GCSE in Business Studies (double award) consists of 6 lessons per week and is assessed through 2 pieces of coursework totaling (66%) and an external examination (33%)

Extra Curricular
